Yellowstone National Park, which is situated in the northwest of the US, is the oldest national park in Ameria and among the world’s true wonders. Moreover, you can see countless surprises frin wildlife manners as coming to Yellowstone National Park. Read this article to know more about this American jewel.

I still remember with crystal clarity the first time I visited Yellowstone National Park. My parents had piled my brothers and me in the van and set out across America to view our nation’s precious parks. Yellowstone stood out to me then, as it does today, as being a truly magical place. I have made many trips back there over the years and I still haven’t lost that wonder that I first felt as a child of 10.

Yellowstone National Park was established in 1872 and is located in parts of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho.

The park is teeming with all kinds of wildlife from bison and elk to wolves and grizzly bears. In addition to all the wonderful animals that you will see, you will also experience some of nature’s wonders. Yellowstone is home to Old Faithful, the most famous geyser in the world; it even has it own web cam. What many people don’t realize is there are hundreds more spectacular geysers and hot springs. On one of my trips, I saw a buffalo sleeping in a depression right by a geyser. Talk about up close and personal.

Yellowstone is a place that you definitely want to do some research on before heading there. You’ll get more out of the trip that way. It is a big place with a lot to do and you will have to choose your priorities.

The Yellowstone website has some helpful information about planning your visit and includes great resources such as an animal checklist to assist you with finding the most likely places to view bears, moose, elk, big horn sheep and other animals of Yellowstone.

There is so much to do; you and your family will want to return again and again. Pick a different section of the park to enjoy each time you go or try to take it all in on one marathon vacation. In addition to the views, the beauty, the canyons, the waterfalls and the animals, there are great recreational opportunities to partake in as well. You can rent a boat, go horseback riding, and enjoy a day of camping, hiking and fishing.

The weather ranges from cold in the winter to cool in the spring and summer. Most of the park is above 7,500 feet and cooler temperatures often prevail, even in the warmer months. You will want to dress in layers and be prepared for unpredictable weather during your visit.

I never get tired of viewing nature’s miraculous creations and Yellowstone National Park is an exemplary example of the preservation of beauty and wonder. Once you’ve visited this park, even one time, you will never again question the importance of preservation and environmental protection. Some things are just too spectacular to ever lose.
